Alexander Isak is expected to be back in Newcastle soon, although Eddie Howe has thrown his future into more doubt amid ongoing links with Liverpool

Newcastle have reportedly promised Alexander Isak he can leave the club next summer after offering him a new contract to remain at St James’ Park for one more season. The 25-year-old is said to be pushing for a move away from the north east, with Liverpool seeing a £110million bid for the Sweden international rejected.

Having spent the past week training in Spain at former club Real Sociedad, Isak is believed to have now returned to Newcastle. In the forthcoming days he will be reunited with his team-mates and coaches when they too return to the United Kingdom after the club’s pre-season tour of the Far East.
