The coroner’s office at Chelan County identified the man who drowned while hiking Sunday at the Enchantments in the state of Washington.

Hikers in the Enchantments attempted Sunday to rescue a drowning man in Lake Colchuck, but authorities say he was beyond resuscitation.

A man died after being rescued from Colchuck Lake in the Enchantments despite extensive CPR efforts by fellow hikers and rapid emergency response.

A hiker from North Carolina died while swimming in Colchuck Lake. The man died on August 3 around 7:15 p.m., according to a news release from the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office Thursday. The 30-year-old man was with a hiking group when he went out for a swim.
