The Edge of Fate feels a little stale in the gameplay department, but plants some interesting seeds for Destiny 2's ongoing narrative.

While I already wrote up a list of things I have deemed positive about Edge of Fate, that was before two things happened. 1) I got the rocket pulse rifle and 2) I got the shotgun hand cannon.

From a narrative standpoint, Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate offers up intriguing nuggets to kick off the start of this new saga. Lodi’s backstory, the truth behind a main character’s past and the elusive nature of the Nine and their omniscient plans for the galaxy are all standouts in this expansion. The main problem is the campaign's execution.

Bungie is no stranger to a crisis, but should not underestimate the scale of the task it's facing.

The Edge of Fate needs some work, but the bones on display are a fantastic start for this new era of the game.

Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate will be releasing for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X on July 15. Bungie has not announced the exact release time of the expansion; however, it’s a safe bet that the new content will go live at or around the weekly reset time, which occurs every Tuesday.
