UPPER MICHIGAN, Mich. (WLUC) - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced it is terminating funding for Michigan’s Solar for All program. The program sought to bring renewable energy to low-income communities, including those in the Upper Peninsula.

The Environmental Protection Agency on Thursday terminated a $7 billion grant program intended to help pay for residential solar projects for more than 900,000 lower-income U.S. households, in the latest Trump administration move hindering the nation’s shift to cleaner energy.

Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin announced Thursday that he is canceling a $7 billion Biden-era program to build rooftop solar. He said that the Solar for All program was eliminated in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, so the EPA no longer has the authority to administer it.
