It's the first of its kind experience inside the new San Marcos IKEA. The store is less than 40,000 square feet, but the same IKEA favorites are available to purchase in a more convenient layout.

Texas loves miniature stores, and the Swedish home goods giant, IKEA, is opening its first small-scale store in Texas.

"It's still the same IKEA experience, just bite-sized," store manager Lindsey Janette said. The first small-format IKEA store opened in San Marcos, Texas on Wednesday, July 16.

IKEA San Marcos will be the company's ninth store in Texas. The store will officially open this spring inside the San Mar Plaza shopping center along State Highway 80.

They're not the sprawling warehouses you've come to associate with IKEA — some don't even serve Swedish meatballs.

It’s not known at this time the exact date IKEA’s new San Marcos location will open, but IKEA said it is aiming for a spring 2025 opening. This will be the ninth store IKEA has opened in Texas.
