Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell’s chief of staff resigned this week, The Seattle Times reported. After more than a decade with Harrell, Jeremy Racca decided to leave the mayor’s office and take a job in New York, where his wife lives.

The announcement comes after Harrell lagged behind Seattle mayoral candidate Katie Wilson in the primary election by nearly 10%.

The official resignation comes just over a week after a deeply disappointing primary election result for Mayor Bruce Harrell.
