NBC News and MSNBC announced a series of staffing announcements, with the latter preparing to split from parent Comcast. Michelle Perry has been promoted to deputy bureau chief of NBC News, having previously run the network’s justice and national security unit.

MSNBC has expanded its Washington Bureau, adding seven new hires from Bloomberg, NBC News and The Hill, as the network expands its editorial team ahead of the Versant spinoff. Akayla Gardner, Ryan Reilly,

NBC News correspondent Jacob Soboroff will join MSNBC full time once the progressive cable channel is spun off into a new company, which will be called Versant. Later this year, MSNBC is heading to Versant, which will be the new stand-alone home for current parent company Comcast’s cable networks.

Jacob Soboroff will be part of the MSNBC team as it splits from Comcast and sister network NBC News later this year. Soboroff will serve as senior national and political correspondent for the network.

Jacob Soboroff will "officially leave Today and NBC News" after a decade for a job on a rival network. Jacob, 42, who is one of NBC's most well-known correspondents, will be moving to MSNBC's new spin-off company.
