Professional Bull Riders wants to know whether Dr. Phil led his Merit Street Media to file for bankruptcy in a “bad faith” move — while shifting assets into a newly created company, Envoy Media Co. — in order to avoid repaying PBR monies owed.

American author and television personality Dr. Phil McGraw, commonly known as Dr. Phil, has found himself in a bit of a pickle with the Professional Bull Riders (PBR Inc.

On Wednesday, Professional Bull Riders, the Fort Worth-based organization that claims it’s owed $181 million by McGraw’s Merit Street Media, filed an emergency legal motion seeking to compel the company to turn over additional documents ahead of an upcoming bankruptcy hearing.

Well-known media personality Dr. Phil McGraw is facing allegations that the Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing for his Merit Street Media company was done in "bad faith" to avoid creditors and to funnel money in to his new venture,

“PBR honored its contract with Dr. Phil’s Merit Street Media, delivered on every performance metric, and brought more than one million viewers to the new network. Dr. Phil and his company completely reneged on the deal just five months in,” the league said in a statement Friday.
