The Rangers traded right-handed pitcher Codi Heuer to the Detroit Tigers in exchange for cash considerations Thursday afternoon. Heuer, 29, pitched in just one game for the Rangers this season and had a 3.43 ERA in 39 1/3 innings at Triple-A Round Rock.

On Thursday, the Tigers made a quiet trade that resulted in them acquiring a reliever who has only one major-league appearance since 2021.

Heuer becomes the fourth relief pitcher to be acquired by the Tigers before the MLB trade deadline. In addition to acquiring Sewald and Heuer, the Tigers also acquired Atlanta Braves relief pitcher Rafael Montero and Washington Nationals reliever Kyle Finnegan.
