"The Pitt" Season 2 will continue to tackle real-world topics in healthcare including cuts to Medicaid spending imposed by President Donald Trump.

On July 29, another new addition was announced. Per Deadline, Lawrence Robinson (T hree Ways, Brotherly Love) will play Brian Hancock, “a sweet, charming, and kind-hearted patient who turns a soccer injury into a possible meet-cute with one of the doctors.”

"You don't have to take a political position to discuss what the impact is actually going to be," executive producer John Wells adds.

Last month, President Trump signed into law the “Big Beautiful Bill,” which includes a 12% cut to Medicaid spending. For Season 2, the creative team has relied on their calls with hundreds of medical professionals to predict the immediate concerns for hospitals within the next year.

The Pitt was unabashedly progressive in season 1 when it came to issues like treatment of certain patient populations. Now it will take on Trump directly
