Sheffield Wednesday manager Henrik Pedersen has admitted he is living day-to-day at the crisis club rather than setting targets for the season ahead.

The depths of Sheffield Wednesday’s plight hit home when it became apparent in pre-season that there was no tape to strap up ankles and keep up their socks.

Sheffield Wednesday Football Club was formed in 1867 as an offshoot of the Wednesday Cricket Club. The name originates from the members of the club, who tended to have Wednesdays as a half-day at work and formed a cricket club which is believed to have started in 1820, but there are some suggestions they formed as early as 1816.

A fresh report has linked a new name with Doncaster Rovers. Former Sheffield Wednesday player Marvin Johnson, who can play full-back or wing-back down the left flank, is a free agent after leaving Hillsborough this summer.
