One of Texas' rowdiest streets is set to get a revamp as local leaders work to improve public safety along the infamous entertainment corridor. The Texas equivalent of Bourbon Street, Sixth Street in Austin features an array of bars and restaurants,

Austin will begin installing concrete barriers along East Sixth Street on Aug. 11, replacing water-filled barricades used to manage crowds and improve safety in the downtown entertainment district.

After installation, the Downtown Austin Alliance will paint the barriers as part of a barricade “beautification” project.

For decades, the flat, glasslike white surface has drawn drivers from all over seeking to set new land speed world records and motorcycle and car fans to watch. Kate Middleton's public appearance is once again drawing concern as her noticeably slimmer frame leaves royal watchers uneasy.
