Resident Steven Oldrid alleged that he was “trapped in his room, suffered smoke inhalation, respiratory distress, and loss of consciousness” during the July 13 blaze.

The lawsuit alleges Fall River's Gabriel House didn't have emergency response procedures in place leading up to last week’s fatal fire.

A former Gabriel House resident filed a lawsuit in Bristol County Superior Court after he was seriously injured in a fire that killed 10 people on July 13. Steven Oldrid lived at the Fall River assisted living facility prior to the fire. He was in a studio apartment when the fire started.

Gov. Maura Healey met with city leaders late Tuesday morning and said her visit is to make sure state leaders know what the city needs moving forward and to talk about what the state is doing to ensure tragedies like this don’t happen again.
