The National Weather Service placed the Tampa Bay Area under an extreme heat warning, a rare step up from a heat advisory. The warning will go into effect at noon and run until 7 p.m. Forecasters say air temperatures will hover in the upper 90s, and some inland areas could reach triple digits.
