At the same time, an oddball area of stretched low pressure more than 1,000 miles east-northeast of Bermuda has stolen the name Cristobal before it zips headlong into storm killing cold water. The National Hurricane Center named Cristobal near 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13 with maximum wind speeds of 45 mph.

Still more than 1,000 miles from Hawaii, the disturbance is likely to develop by mid-week. Forecasters say a direct impact is a possibility.
