India's UPI has become a global leader in fast payments, handling over 640 million transactions daily and powering nearly 50% of all real-time digital payments worldwide.

MUMBAI (Reuters) -Payments firm PayPal has partnered with the operator of India’s popular unified payments interface and others to launch a global platform through which consumers can make cross-border payments to businesses.

In a significant push for cross-border digital payments, US-based payments giant PayPal has announced its integration with India’s Unified Payments Interface

PayPal World is set to launch in late 2025 and will begin with offering interoperability between PayPal and Venmo. PayPal World will also include UPI as part of its initial launch.

PayPal announced Wednesday it has partnered with global wallet companies to create a platform called PayPal World that is designed to make cross-border commerce easier. The platform will allow users to pay others using their local wallets and payment systems.

The move aims to streamline the process of sending money, shopping online, and making in-store purchases across international borders.
