Nvidia is releasing a new GeForce Game Ready Driver today that expands support for Windows 10 devices, alongside some games and G-Sync displays. Windows 10 Game Ready Driver support will now be available for GeForce RTX GPUs until October 2026, a year beyond when Microsoft is planning to stop supporting the operating system on October 14th, 2025.

Nvidia has released a new graphics driver and announced that it'll soon be drawing the curtain on support for GeForce GTX 10 series GPUs, as well as GTX 900 models - and the end for Windows 10 gamers will follow a year later.

Nvidia has released a new GeForce Game Ready Driver update that brings expanded support for Windows 10, with updates for older and newer GPU users. One of the most essential facets of this update is that GeForce RTX GPUs running on Windows 10 will now get Game Ready Driver updates through October 2026.

Second, Nvidia says it will wind down all driver support for Windows 10 in October of 2026. This is one year past Microsoft's officially announced end-of-support date for Windows 10, but it will cover users who choose to take advantage of the year of free extended security updates (ESUs) that Microsoft is offering to home users (we have a guide on how to get those updates if you want them).

Game Ready drivers will go out one final time in October for these storied cards, then switch to quarterly security-only updates.

NVIDIA has said that it will deliver its final Game Ready Driver for GPUs built on the Maxwell and Pascal architecture in October. This means there will be no more driver updates for GeForce GTX 1000, 900 and 700 series GPUs.

NVIDIA described its 11-year support for the aging hardware "well beyond industry norms." If you’ve been rocking a GTX card for the best part of a decade and don’t want to get left behind, now might be a good time to look into upgrading your GPU.

Thankfully, NVIDIA will still be releasing quarterly security updates for the next three years (through October 2028). NVIDIA has generally been okay with releasing emergency security patches as well, so this probably isn't a big problem in the overall picture.
