A little less than three weeks into free agency, Grimes has yet to sign a deal with anybody. A restricted free agent, the Sixers can match any deal he signs. When speaking in Las Vegas, President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey stated that the two sides are working on a deal to bring him back, but nothing has been agreed upon just yet.

Grimes was a midseason acquisition for Philadelphia, part of the team's trade to get off the contract of Caleb Martin. Playing an increased role on a lottery-bound team, Grimes averaged a career-best 21.9 points on .469/.373/.752 shooting splits, 5.2 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.5 steals in his 28 healthy games for the 76ers (25 starts).
