Louisiana Tech will become the second Conference USA school to depart since Missouri State announced it was joining the league last May.

The Sun Belt Conference's CEOs voted to extend an invitation to Conference USA's Louisiana Tech Monday morning, according to ESPN. Louisiana Tech is set to replace Texas State, which is departing for the Pac-12 in 2026,

The Sun Belt's CEOs voted to invite Louisiana Tech as the league's 14th member Monday morning, giving the school a replacement for Texas State.

In late June, the school was initially rumored to be heading to the Sun Belt to replace Texas State, which is moving to the Pac-12. However, Louisiana Tech's start date in the Sun Belt is not confirmed;

Louisiana Tech would replace Texas State, which will depart after the 2025-26 athletic year to join the Pac-12. Louisiana Tech was a member of the Sun Belt Conference from 1991-2001, before the league began playing a full championship schedule in football.

Two weeks after Texas State announced its leaving the Sun Belt Conference to join the new Pac-12 Conference, the league’s CEOs voted to approve Louisiana Tech to fill the void.
