The sweetened offer comes days after Advent improved its bid for Spectris, prompting the target to withdraw its recommendation for the previous offer put forward by KKR.

LONDON (Reuters) -British scientific instruments maker Spectris has agreed to a sweetened offer from U.S. private equity firm KKR valuing it at 4.8 billion pounds ($6.4 billion), it said on Tuesday, withdrawing its backing for a lower offer from rival suitor Advent.

The KKR offer includes 41.75 pounds in cash for each share of the company, including an interim dividend of 28 pence for fiscal 2025.
