These racers are hot to trot – but not in the heat. The “Mallathon” races are held in Dubai throughout August due to the scorching temperatures that the region sees during this time of year.

Nine of Dubai's malls - including one of the world's largest, the Dubai Mall - are opening their doors early at 7 a.m. this month to welcome walkers and runners, offering a cool alternative to outdoor exercise during the peak of summer heat.

Dubai hosted a series of indoor races they dubbed Mallathons as summer temperatures scorched the city. The Mallathon races, which run through August, are a “free community fitness” initiative that turn nine malls across Dubai into indoor walking and running routes in the morning hours before stores open.
