Pete Davidson wants to remake Martin Scorsese's 1982 film The King of Comedy with Eddie Murphy. Davidson wants to play Robert De Niro's role, and envisions Murphy as the character originally portrayed by Jerry Lewis. Davidson also has an idea for a project he'd like to star in with his mentor, Adam Sandler.

A low-key Murphy, whose “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F” sequel was released straight-to-streaming by Netflix last year, is the responsible adult here. Davidson, the Jerry Lewis to his Dean Martin, portrays a sentimentalized version of the idiots he sometimes plays.
