Campers have been evacuated after a new wildfire grew to over 300 acres in Summit County Wednesday afternoon. Officials say structures are threatened.

Campers are being evacuated as a 'fast-growing' fire is threatening structures on Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest land east of Mirror Lake Highway, state land managers say.

The Canyon fire was initially reported at about 30 acres but had rapidly grown to 1,500 acres in a few hours on Thursday, officials said.

Multiple locations are under evacuation orders near Piru in Ventura County due to a fast-moving brush fire that has scorched more than 1,000 acres. The Canyon Fire is burning near Lake Piru, leading to mandatory evacuations in nearby communities and broader evacuation warnings in eastern Ventura County and parts of Los Angeles County.

The Canyon fire along the Ventura-Los Angeles county line quickly grew to over 1,000 acres Thursday afternoon, triggering evacuations in and around Piru and Castaic.
