"The Pitt" Season 2 will continue to tackle real-world topics in healthcare including cuts to Medicaid spending imposed by President Donald Trump.

Last month, President Trump signed into law the “Big Beautiful Bill,” which includes a 12% cut to Medicaid spending. For Season 2, the creative team has relied on their calls with hundreds of medical professionals to predict the immediate concerns for hospitals within the next year.

Season 1 of The Pitt took bold swings, confronting issues like gun violence, vaccine disinformation, and abortion. Now, HBO’s hit medical drama is ready to turn its lens on President Donald J. Trump and his “Big Beautiful Bill.

Scott Gemmill and star Noah Wyle talked to Variety about Season 2, and how it will introduce subjects that are truly relevant to our times. "We take our platform very seriously," Gemmill said when highlighting their responsibility given the show's reach.

"You don't have to take a political position to discuss what the impact is actually going to be," executive producer John Wells adds.
