Cheniere Energy's second-quarter profit nearly doubled year-on-year, driven by positive changes in the valuation of certain assets, steady demand and robust margins, the U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) company reported on Thursday.

Cheniere Energy and JERA have finalised a long-term sale and purchase agreement (SPA) to acquire approximately one million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Cheniere Marketing on a free-on-board (FoB) basis from 2029 to 2050.

US liquefied natural gas exporter Cheniere has agreed to a long-term sales and purchase agreement (SPA) with Japanese utility JERA, the company announced on Thursday. As part of the deal, Cheniere will send 1 million tonnes per annum to JERA starting in 2029. The gas will be indexed to Henry Hub, and Cheniere will charge a fixed liquefaction fee.
