U.S. President Donald Trump said on Friday up to five jets were shot down during recent India-Pakistan hostilities that began after an April Islamist militant attack in India-administered Kashmir, with the situation calming after a ceasefire in May.

The US president did not specify whether the jets were lost by either of the two countries or whether he was referring to combined losses by both sides

The US president has also repeatedly claimed credit for the ceasefire between the neighbours that he announced in May.

This time, however, US President Donald Trump backed a claim about shooting down of five jets. “Planes were being shot out of there. I think five jets were shot down, actually,” he said without explicitly mentioning whose jets were shot down.
