MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) — Somalia’s defense ministry said officials were investigating an explosion at a military training school in the capital Mogadishu on Wednesday, an incident claimed by the Al-Qaeda-linked al-Shabab militant group as a suicide attack.

An explosion hit a military base in the Somali capital on Wednesday and was followed by gunfire, a witness said, as the al Qaeda-linked militant al Shabaab group claimed responsibility for what it described as a suicide bomb attack.
