Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, shared tea with 105-year-old Royal Marines veteran James “Jim” Wren in Salisbury, England days before the 80th anniversary of V-J Day.

Sophie, 60, made the stop as patron of The Java Far East Prisoner of War Club 1942 in an outing timed to the upcoming 80th anniversary of VJ Day on Aug. 15. VJ Day is shorthand for Victory over Japan Day, commemorating the surrender of Japan and the end of World War II in 1945.

James "Jim" Wren, one of the oldest surviving veterans of the Second World War, recounted his experience over a cup of tea at the Sarum Manor Care Home in Salisbury.
