The 2025 NFL preseason officially gets underway in Canton, Ohio, on Thursday night during the annual Pro Football Hall of Fame Game. The Detroit Lions and the Los Angeles Chargers will square off, even if the biggest players on both teams will probably spend most, if not all, of their time on the sideline.

The game is annually held at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio, which is right next to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The regular season kicks off Sept. 4 with an NFC East showdown between the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys.

Plenty of big names will appear on ballots for the first time next year, with players who retired after the 2020 season becoming eligible. Additionally, a group of four players who were finalists in 2025 will automatically advance to the 2026 "Finalist" stage of the Hall of Fame process.
