George Russell has insisted he still has full “trust” in Toto Wolff and Mercedes, but says any new F1 contract must suit both sides. Russell is out of contract at the end of 2025 and, despite putting together arguably the best campaign of his F1 career so far, was rumoured to be on his way out of the team.

George Russell is expected to be given clarity over his position at Mercedes shortly, following Toto Wolff's tactics during contract negotiations.

Speaking to Austrian broadcaster ORF, Mercedes boss Wolff has said continuing with Russell and Antonelli is the "absolute priority" for him, and has played down any "big surprises" over the summer break. "Discussions have been taking place over the last weeks and months, so they are all up to date," Wolff said.
