Directed by Alex Proyas, “I, Robot” is about a Chicago police detective (Smith) who investigates the alleged suicide of a robotics company founder and becomes convinced that one of the robots, Sonny (Tudyk), murdered him.

Alan Tudyk recalled the behind-the-scenes controversy that led to his diminished involvement in I, Robot. The actor was sidelined in the film 's promotion because Will Smith had more star power, even though test audiences resonated more with Tudyk's character.
