Two people are dead and one is in custody after a shooting Thursday morning on Detroit's east side. Police say the shooting happened just before 11 a.m. Thursday in the 3800 block of Bewick Street. When officers arrived, they found two people dead in the street.

Two people were killed and one person was taken into custody Thursday in a shooting that involved two gunmen, Detroit police said.

At 10:57 a.m., police received calls of shots fired and one possibly down in the 3800 block of Bewick Street, Deputy Chief Arnold Williams said during a media briefing. When officers arrived on the scene, they found two people in the street who had been fatally shot.

Late Thursday morning, officers were called to the east side after two people were killed during a gunfight in Detroit. One person that was killed was a suspected shooter before a third party intervened and shot him.
