Record-setting rainfall caused intense flooding in and around the Milwaukee area starting on Saturday night. Record-setting rains in Wisconsin led to life-threatening flash flooding in Milwaukee and the surrounding area overnight Saturday to Sunday, prompting widespread flood alerts and the early closure of the Wisconsin State Fair.

The City of Milwaukee Department of Public Works said Sunday morning that crews “are working nonstop assessing damage and clearing flooded areas.”

Chinese state media say that 30 people have died in heavy rains and flooding in and around Beijing, raising the death toll from the flooding in the region to 34.

Severe flooding led to cancelations at State Fair and USA Triathlon as more than 5 inches of rain fell in Milwaukee and Wisconsin.

A dangerous flash flooding situation unfolded across portions of Wisconsin over the weekend, including the Milwaukee area, that led to numerous reports flooded roads and homes and forcing officials to close the Wisconsin State Fair.
