“Vanderpump Rules” Season 10 revealed the explosive affair between co-stars Tom Sandoval and Rachel Leviss; Sandoval’s ex Ariana Madix confronted both cast members during the Season 10 reunion in 2023. The episode was Emmy-nominated.

Appearing on the podcast Shut Up Evan, the Girls star said she got really into the Bravo reality TV series and wanted to shoot a serious version of the widely publicised Season 10 affair known as “Scandoval” which shocked both the cast and longtime fans of Vanderpump Rules in 2023, culminating in a dramatic reunion.

On the latest episode of the Shut Up Evan podcast, Dunham told host Evan Ross Katz that she actually tried to coordinate a reenactment of the post-Scandoval Vanderpump reunion. She thought it would be fun to have dramatic actors perform as Sandoval, Madix, and Leviss.

In her dream casting, Dunham saw Andrew Scott taking on the role of Sandoval and Jennifer Lawrence playing Madix, delivering their dialogue as if it were scripted by the Bard himself. “I want to take these words and direct them like it’s really serious theater,” she said.

Lena Dunham was so into the Vanderpump Rules "Scandoval" cheating scandal that she reached out to Andy Cohen with a pitch for a "really serious" dramatic take on it -- and even had her dream cast lined up.

We should basically create like a mini movie in which actors treat this as canon and get up and perform it with all the passion and virtuosity of Shakespeare,” said Dunham on the Shut Up Evan podcast.
