CANTON, Ohio — The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) announced Thursday it will sanction girls flag football as a varsity sport with a state championship beginning in the spring of 2026.
According to the OHSAA, the number of Ohio high schools with girls flag football teams has expanded from 20 schools three years ago to now 80 schools. The sport will remain a spring season activity.
