「大坑風景區」為台中市民心靈沉澱的重要休閒場所，也是備受登山客喜愛的踏青健身之地，更是中部地區熱門的觀光景點之一，其最具特色的即為13條登山步道，第1至8號步道自民國70年初開闢，依循大坑山與溪流交錯的天然地形建造而成；而地處海拔470至859公尺之間的4號步道坡度落差大，其中一段長約300公尺的垂直陡坡十分考驗遊客的體力與耐力，因此又被稱作「軟腳坡」。
