The 14-time major winner won her first match back from injury on Monday at the DC Open, teaming up with doubles partner Hailey Baptiste

Venus Williams enjoyed a winning return to competitive tennis after 16 months away as she reached the quarterfinals of the women’s doubles at the DC Open alongside Hailey Baptiste.

Williams is scheduled to make her return in the singles competition, where she will face Cincinnati-native Peyton Stearns. Stearns is currently ranked 35th by the WTA, as opposed to her career high of #28. Stearns attended the University of Texas where she won a NCAA Singles crown and back-to-back NCAA team titles.
