Injured Yankees players DJ LeMahieu and Gerrit Cole are headed back to New York after spending time rehabbing at the team's complex in Tampa, Florida, with LeMahieu likely to start a rehab assignment later this week.

The Yankees’ No. 1 prospect was scheduled to play his first rehab game since his Tommy John surgery on Tuesday night with Low A Clearwater. He’ll only DH for two weeks, then start playing some center field.

Despite an outstanding start for New York Yankees pitcher Luis Gil, the team is expected to relegate him to make room for Gerrit Cole.
