Steve Angeli, coming off a winning turn in the Sun Bowl, will get another chance to show how far he’s come in learning the Denbrock system. Kenny Minchey, who ran for a score off a goal-line option look, has been drawing raves from teammates and coaches alike, but it’s midyear enrollee CJ Carr who might fire the tightest spiral of the group.

“He was going to challenge himself to have 100% focus on every rep, so he had the headset on, he knew every call that was going in, and he went and stepped through every single one,” Freeman said. “That’s who he’s been. He’s actually practicing a little bit more now, doing some 7-on-7, some other things.”

Upon conclusion of Thursday morning’s Blue-Gold Game draft, Notre Dame football coach Marcus Freeman announced all players would wear a commemorative T-shirt in honor of the late Nilka Mickey, mother of junior cornerback Jaden Mickey.

This Saturday will mark the most exciting day for Notre Dame football since the 2023 season ended with a win in the Sun Bowl. The Blue Gold Game that has concluded spring practices for nearly a century will take place at Notre Dame Stadium.
