The Met Office has issued a fresh yellow thunderstorm warning for parts of Devon. The Exeter-based forecaster is expecting showers and heavy downpours to bring further disruption to the county today (Wednesday, May 22).

The Met Office has upgraded its weather alert, issuing a yellow warning for thunderstorms across all of Devon. Previously, the warning was only effective to parts of Devon. The warning, which is effective from 12pm to 9pm today, signals the potential for severe weather conditions throughout the region.

Amber and yellow weather warnings have been issued for parts of the North West. Forecasters said "heavy and persistent rain" would fall over the next 24 hours, leading to flooding and disruption. The Met Office warnings,

Heavy and persistent rain throughout Wednesday and into Thursday has prompted the Met Office to upgrade its previous yellow warning to amber for parts of Derbyshire. Currently the whole of the county is covered by a yellow warning but the north-west of the county - above Buxton towards Glossop - is now covered by an amber warning.
