The Columnar Norway Spruce is a hardy and attractive upright evergreen, just perfect for a screen or as a specimen tree. It has a dense, narrow form, never broken by snow, and it is very hardy - all the way to minus 40 degrees. It is fast-growing, so you will soon have a wonderful specimen, or a dense privacy screen. The growth is always neat, so it never needs clipping, although it can be clipped into an even tighter form is you prefer. It grows well in most kinds of soil, except for very chalky ones, and will grow in clay too. It is not very drought resistant, although it will deal easily with ordinary dry periods in cooler states, especially when well established.
