A trove of snapshots of the intimate island gathering — which has become an iconic wedding despite its secrecy — has been shared exclusively with CNN ahead of the docuseries “American Prince: JFK Jr.”

For years, the public only had a single picture from the wedding of John F. Kennedy Jr. and his wife, Carolyn Bessette.

On July 16, 1999, John F. Kennedy Jr. boarded a small aircraft with wife Carolyn Bessette and her sister Lauren Bessette, intending to fly from New Jersey to Martha’s Vineyard and then on to Cape Cod for his cousin Rory’s wedding;

A set of rare photos shared by CNN gives a glimpse into the couple’s nuptials. The photo was released ahead of the channel’s three-part original series American Prince: JFK Jr., which airs on August 9.
