A man in British Columbia, Canada, managed to successfully defend himself against a cougar by fighting fire with fire.

A British Columbia man suffered minor injuries after fending off a cougar attack by punching the animal in the face in the province's northern Interior.

A man working in Smithers, a town in British Colombia, was suddenly attacked by a cougar. Though he was injured in the attack, he managed to survive and scare the animal off by literally punching it in the face. Smithers is a very small town, a place with a population barely above 5,000. It’s most certainly off the beaten path.

Well, late last week, a British Columbia man did nearly that. As reported by the CBC, he was working outside near the town of Smithers, about 600 miles northwest of Vancouver, when a cougar approached him and clawed at his torso.
