Less than a month later, Etess, then the executive vice president of marketing at the Mohegan Sun, watched as the announcement was made that the Orlando team would move to the casino and become the Connecticut Sun.

U NCASVILLE, CT (WFSB) - The future of the Connecticut Sun remains uncertain after a record-setting bid to purchase and relocate the WNBA team to Boston was made. A group led by Celtics minority owner Steve Pagliuca has reached a $325 million deal to buy the team and move it to Boston by the 2027 season, according to an Associated Press source.

The Connecticut group seeking to keep the Sun in the state is led by Marc Lasry, a billionaire investor who formerly owned the NBA’s Milwaukee Bucks, with additional support from the local corporate community.
