The NTSB is now reviewing three days of testimony from last week’s public hearings into the Jan. 29 midair collision near Reagan National Airport.

During the hearings, the NTSB was told that the Army helicopter never heard the command from the air traffic controller to "pass behind the CRJ" as the transmission was stepped on. It was also revealed that the plane's pilots were not warned by the controller that there was a helicopter nearby or cleared to fly near the helicopter.

A test flight in May over the Potomac River found that the barometric altitude was consistently lower by about 100 feet than the radio and geometric altitudes over the water. The helicopter's barometric altimeter was also obscured during the flight, investigators said.
