Nintendo has announced a new free mobile app coming to iOS, Android and the Switch. It’s called Hello, Mario! and was revealed alongside a new collection of Mario-themed products designed for kids and toddlers launching in Japan later this month.

The free smart device and Switch app is officially titled ' Hello, Mario! ' and allows kids to interact with Mario's face. Based on the description and footage so far, it looks a bit like the Super Mario 64 start menu feature, allowing you to interact with a 3D version of Mario's head.

Nintendo has announced My Mario, a new range of Mario-themed products aimed at young children. The My Mario range will go on sale in Nintendo ‘s Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto stores from August 26, with select products being released outside of Japan next year.

Nintendo gave a sneak preview of some of the times that will be readily available: a set of wooden blocks shaped like Mario, Luigi, and other familiar items from Mario's world. What makes these blocks interesting is that they also work as Amiibo figures, so kids can use them in certain Nintendo Switch games to unlock extra features or characters.

Nintendo's next release is a step toward something more game-like, but it's not a traditional Mario title. It's called Hello, Mario! and it's designed to be a nostalgic journey for parents who owned a Nintendo 64.
