FOXBOROUGH — Although there has been plenty of shuffling along the Patriots’ offensive line the first four practices of training camp, rookie Jared Wilson is emerging as a serious candidate to crack the starting lineup sooner rather than later.

“For a rookie, (Wilson is) just really good,” said Wallace, who switched from tackle to guard this spring. “The way he moves, the way he protects in the pass game and the way gets off the ball in the run game is admirable. … (And) he’s smart. Coming in as a rookie, learning all three interior positions, it’s pretty impressive.”

Instead, the Patriots kept Wilson at left guard and played backup Ben Brown at center for the duration of practice. Although Strange had been starting at left guard for most of the offseason, the veteran moved to the second-team offense, where he played center for Dobbs’ unit.

Because Friday’s practice was a walkthrough, because there was very little to glean other than where certain players sit on their respective positional depth charts, now feels like a good time to revisit some of the camp battles we considered prior to the start of camp.
