McDonald Rivet represents the 35th State Senate District in Michigan, a position she won in the general election in November 2022. Her career in politics, however, spans almost 20 years.

McDonald Rivet’s victory came after she won the Aug. 6 Democratic primary election with 53% of the votes, besting former Flint Mayor Matt Collier and state Board of Education President Pamela Pugh.

McDonald Rivet spoke to TV5 as she lays out her plans for her first term in Washington D.C. “Start of the new year, start of a new job,” McDonald Rivet said.
