Michigan State, a nearly 30-point underdog, overcame early mistakes and trailed only 17-10 at halftime before getting the ball to start the third quarter. The game was very much up for grabs but Notre Dame choked out and shut out the Spartans in the second half while giving up only 40 yards and finishing with a 395-167 edge overall.

Michigan sophomore Andrew Marsh led the team in receiving last year, but through the first two games this season, he was not much of a factor.
