An air quality alert has been issued for all of Minnesota, starting at 9 a.m. Sunday and continuing until 9 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. The alert is due to heavy smoke from wildfires across central Saskatchewan and Manitoba on the back of a low pressure area.

Minnesotans will once again experience hazy conditions and poor air quality this weekend, as wildfires continue to burn across Canada, sending smoke south with the change in wind direction.

The red alert, issued by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, means that the air quality is unhealthy for everyone. It will begin at 9 a.m. Sunday and last until 9 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, for large portions of the state, including the Minneapolis-St. Paul area.

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency announced Tuesday the entire state is under an air quality alert for the remainder of the week.
